CPD course

Dates: Wednesday 8 June and Wednesday 15 June 2011

Times: 9.30am – 1.00pm

Course fee: £195.00 (books after 1 June £250.00)

This course is designed for professionals who would like to update and extend their ability to carry out and write diagnostic assessments. The course will include a mixture of lectures, discussion and practical activities.

Participants will have the opportunity to develop their knowledge in the following areas:

 

  • Understanding psychometric testing
  • Planning an assessment including choosing a range of tests to suit different learner profiles
  • Report writing, including good practice and writing the conclusion
  • Providing reports for students in higher education
  • Providing teaching recommendations and advice on access arrangements
  • Experience of a broad range of tests including the DASH and DASH 17+, the WRAML-2,
    WIAT II-T, WRAT 4, WRIT, CTOPP, TOWRE, ARC, ART and an introduction to the new HAST

The course takes places over two mornings from 9.30 am to 1pm, at The Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre near Farnham in Surrey. It is suitable for the core hours of Continued Professional Development, which will be required when renewing PATOSS Practising Certificates. The course is delivered by experienced assessors and tutors from the Helen Arkell Centre.
